Everyone needs water in order to live. Aren’t we all always reminded about drinking 8 glasses of it every day? Unfortunately, we can’t be assured that our drinking water is completely safe. We have a history of abusing and polluting the earth. A lot of harmful toxins, chemicals, etc…seep into the ground and contaminate our ground supplies.

There are many horror stories about what happens to people when they drink contaminated water. Everything from birth defects to cancer can be attributed to tainted and polluted drinking supplies. One way to help keep your drinking water safe is to have a filter.

Filters are a good investment to make. Can you really put a price on a clean source? In order to get the proper benefits from what is supposed to keep us healthy, filters are necessary. Here are the reasons why:

Filters make the tap water safer for people. These help protect against contaminants like lead, chlorine, or bacteria that could damage one’s health.

Used for shower heads, sensitive skin will be protected from allergies and irritants. With a proper filtering installed on your shower head your hair and skin can become softer, too.

The stuff from the tap water will taste much better through the carbon blocks or filters. Chemicals like chlorine often times leave a bad taste in your mouth. The chemicals can also affect the taste of food when you use it for cooking purposes.

Filtered leaves less soap scum on dishes, or tiles. If you have a filter you will spend less time cleaning dishes or your tiles in the shower.

The home filtration system in your shower helps prevent the chemicals in the tap water to be released through steam. This steam may affect the quality of air that you breathe at home.

Filters eventually pay for themselves if you drink bottled water. The costs of bottled adds up fast. If you are relying on bottled, you wouldn’t have to spend that money anymore if you had a filter.

Most filters are easy to install and can be installed in just a few minutes.

Chemicals from the tap won’t get stuck or embedded in your clothes while doing laundry if you have a filter. .

You minimize your chances of getting cancer due to the intake of chlorine and other such contaminants from the tap.

As you can see, the benefits to using a filter are tremendous. If you are serious about protecting your health and the health of those in your home, you should seriously consider investing in a water filter.

Cuno Water Filters – Do They Stack Up to the Competition?

Although most people have never heard of Cuno water filters many of you have heard the brand name of their water filtration products. Some of you may even own this company’s water filters, and still have no idea that the company exists. That is really all secondary though, as what we are going to do is see just how their water filters truly stack up to the competition.

These water purifiers stack up competitively with other water filters in most of the categories of contaminants effectively blocked, but it doesn’t match the performance of the top brands in a few key areas. This has to do with the percentage of contaminants blocked as compared to the top rated purification system in the ten system comparison.

When you compare Cuno water filters to the number one water it falls short in five of the 11 contaminant categories. This appliance blocks two percent less chlorine, four percent less lead, it was seven percent lower on THMs, and does not block MTBE at all. These are all very serious lapses in protection that you can’t afford to have when trying to keep your family healthy.

All of the contaminants in our water supply pose a threat to our health, but of the five categories where the company’s filters fell short this is especially true. A water purification system that cannot effectively block these impurities should not even be considered for use in your home.

It is obvious that Cuno water filters are not good filters to have when they allow carcinogens such as chlorine, toxic metals, methane and chloroform gas, and poisonous gasoline additives into the water that your children drink. Then there is the cost of the appliance itself, the replacement filters, and the overall cost of use per gallon.

The cost of these filters is a little extravagant for a filter that doesn’t effectively remove all of the contaminants from your drinking water. When you compare their asking price of $349 with the $125 sale price of the number rated filter it simply doesn’t make sense. Why would anyone in their right mind pay so much more for less?

The Cuno water filters replacement cartridges are more reasonable than most at $79.99. These cartridges will last through 625 gallons which means that they cost you 13 cents for every gallon of water used. The highest rated water filter features $48.00 cartridges that are good for 500 gallons or about 9.6 cents for every gallon of water used.

I think that you can see a pattern forming here. These filters lose in just about every major category to the number one rated water purification system. You can clearly see why that system leaves all of the others behind in not only performance, but in cost as well.

If your shopping for a n effective purification system for your home it would be a good idea to make sure that the product that you are thinking of buying is not manufactured by Cuno water filters.
